4 Tips from our Time Management expert Harold Taylor:

  • Remember that a successful life is simply a series of successful days!
  • Don’t keep separate lists. If people stopped writing long lists of things to do, they’d have more time to do them. Whenever you think of something you have to do, jot it directly into your planner. Schedule important tasks at a specific time in the day. Protect that time from interruptions. Writing things on lists does nothing to further their accomplishment. But scheduling a specific time to complete it turns intentions into accomplishments.
  • Beware of scheduling too many tasks in any one day. Leave plenty of room for interruptions, emergencies and unavoidable delays.
  • Carry a sheet of self-adhesive colored labels in front pocket of your planner. Flag important events such as birthdays, conferences, doctors’ appointments, etc. At the end of the year, you can use your current planner for reference and mark those same recurring dates in next year’s planner. It’s almost impossible to miss an important date when a bright red dot screams out at you from the page. You can use different colors to differentiate between birthdays of family members, major clients, etc.
